New Nursing Home Under Construction in Gillingham
European Care Group is building a brand new, purpose built specialist dementia nursing home in Gillingham, Dorset. Gillingham is a small market town, surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside. Nearby towns and villages include Peacemarsh, Bay and Wyke.
The plan is to have a 75 bedded nursing care unit and the facility to have 14 places for day care. The home has been designed specifically to meet the needs of elderly residents, and will extend over two floors. Each of the 75 single bedrooms will have en-suite facilities with a hand basin, WC and shower. Each bedroom will feature a flat-screen television, with access to freeview and telephone points. Some of the ground floor rooms will also offer patio access. Modern safety features will be fitted in each room and include a 24 hour nurse call system, thermostatic control and smoke detectors. The under floor heating system will add an extra dimension of comfort.
Proposed bedroom
The home will offer comfortable and well furnished lounges and dining rooms, providing a meeting place for residents to relax and entertain guests. We understand how important it is to keep in touch with friends and relatives and our door will be always open. The home will have a dedicated activities room and offer a range of organised activities such as gardening, music and exercise. Residents will be encouraged to progress personal hobbies and interests. Additional facilities, such as a hair salon, will be available.
At Gillingham we will be able to offer care to suit individual needs: long-term care for those who need daily specialist nursing dementia care, respite dementia care to enable carers to take a much deserved break, and post-operative care.
