What it's like to live here
We enable people to maintain lifestyles that are as similar as possible to those enjoyed at home. We encourage regular interaction with the local community, including contact with friends, family and local groups. We encourage friends and family to be involved through regular visits and participation at special activities, events and open days.
Our Activities Co-ordinator organises an extensive range of activities which individuals can choose to become involved in. This may include cooking cakes for afternoon tea, researching topics online, gardening, board games and creative arts and crafts.
The activities offered are very much based on the individual person’s choice and interests. We also offer each resident a diary where they can document the day’s events and ask them to share with staff so we can really understand what each person likes to do with their day.
People are encouraged to continue hobbies and interests they had before coming to stay at Gillingham Grange. Whether it’s going for a morning walk or simply joining in with the fun activities, everyone will find something to do here. Individuals can also choose to join us on regular trips out and enjoy the best of what Dorset has to offer.
Meals are an important part of the day at Gillingham Grange. We have a choice of spacious dining rooms and our expert chef offers a varied menu of fresh home cooked food every day. We cater for individual likes and dislikes from a cultural, religious or choice perspective.
We have large gardens which many residents enjoy sitting in or doing the gardening. There is a lovely garden centre across the road which is a great place for morning coffee or afternoon tea. We also have an in-house hairdressing salon and residents often enjoy visits from manicurists, beauticians, chiropodists, physiotherapists, opticians and other professionals.
