In 2006 European Care Group established a specialist development service - The Dementia Development Service, led by a senior specialist in Dementia Care. The service has established links with a number of a number of Universities in particular the world leading University of Bradford Dementia Group, Stirling, Edinburgh, Bangor and a number of other international seats of learning worldwide. Dementia expertise and training throughout the UK in care homes is very limited. European Care took the lead in this field and over the last 2 years has converted some 1400 (elderly) beds from residential & nursing care to dementia care.

Through its association with the Research Charity RESEC, the Group is currently in discussion with a number of Commissioning Authorities to carry out research in the area of Transitional Services for young adults with complex learning disabilities.
